PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately determining a background signal and discriminating an actual signal generated from a probe/targeted molecule.;SOLUTION: A microarray for coupling to a target includes a unstructured probe (5) attached to the surface of a substrate, coupled to a target and generating a first signal (14), a structured probe (6) attached to the surface of the substrate and generating a second signal (15) and a light source for exciting the unstructured probe (5) and the structured probe (6). A read value for the first signal can be found accurately, by comparing the first signal generated from the unstructured probe (5) and the second signal generated from the structured probe (6).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
