PURPOSE: To obtain the subject derivative, having higher herbicidal activities and higher safety for crops than those of a conventional herbicide and suitable as a herbicide by reacting plural specified compounds. ;CONSTITUTION: This derivative is expressed by formula I [Ar is a (substituted) cycloalkyl, phenyl or a (substituted)5- or 6-membered (condensed)heterocyclic ring; R₁ and R₂ are each H, an (substituted)alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, a cycloalkyl, etc.; (m) is 0-4], e.g. 3-[(1S)-1-phenylethyl]-4-quinazolinone.
