ALTERNATIVE TEST METHOD FOR EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANT ON BONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To examine effects of environmental pollutants such as heavy metals or the like, on bones of spinal animals by finding a proper alternative for the bones of spinal animals and using the same. ;SOLUTION: The alternative test method for effect of environmental pollutant on bone comprises a step preparing scales peeled from a fish body, a step culturing the scales by immersing them in a culture solution containing the pollutant such as the heavy metals, an endocrine disruptor or the like, a step measuring change of each activity of tartaric acid-resistant acid phosphatase of osteoclast which plays a roll in bone resorption and activity of alkaline phosphatase of osteoblast which plays a roll in osteoplasty of the cultured scales and a step evaluating the effect of the environmental pollutant from both sides.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
