PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the alignment adjusting work significantly and to enhance the print quality by correcting positional shift due to bidirectional printing. ;SOLUTION: Two alignment adjusting values corresponding, respectively, to two types of carrier speed are inputted through an operating section 7 and stored at a memory section 3. Based on two alignment adjusting values, an operating means 2 determines an alignment adjusting value corresponding to a desired carrier speed and then a head output timing correcting means 2 corrects the drive timing of a print head 9 based on the alignment adjusting value corresponding to a desired carrier speed. Consequently, positional shift due to bidirectional printing is adjusted correctly and the print quality can be enhanced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
