Nutrient medium null for animal cell culture

PURPOSE: To obtain a material capable of promoting proliferating action on an animal cell by adding the material to a culture medium containing fetal calf serum (FCS) and manifesting the proliferating action of the animal cell comparable to that of transferrin by adding the material to a serum-free culture medium. ;CONSTITUTION: This culture medium for culturing an animal cell is obtained by blending a hemoferrum composition in which a part of a globin chain is removed from hemoglobin. Since the proliferating action on the animal cell is remarkably promoted by adding a trace amount of the hemoferrum composition to the culture medium containing FCS, the amount of the expensive FCS used can be reduced.
