PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feces collecting rod easy to produce which can collect a specimen easily from the vicinity of the surface of feces and from various points of the feces without changing the collection amount depending on the hardness of the feces, and enables the specimen to be dissolved easily when soaked in a liquid. ;SOLUTION: A coil-like projection 30 is integrally molded at the leading end of a shaft part 17 o the feces collecting rod. A band plate 31 of the projection 30 is twisted spirally and a gap 33 of nearly the same width as the band plate 31 is provided on the side face of the projection 30 having a cylindrical hollow 35 at the center. In order to collect a specimen from feces, several points of the surface of feces are pierced or scrubbed. In any method, the specimen collected first can move in the hollow 35 when a specimen is to be collected from a different point, and therefore specimens can be collected from a plurality of points of the vicinity of the surface of the feces. Moreover, the contact area of the specimen when soaked in a liquid is large, so that the specimen can be dissolved easily.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
