PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely dredge a large quantity of water-bottom sediment like sludge, which is accumulated on the bottom of the water in natural water areas, such as the bottom of the sea, the bottoms of a lake and a marsh, and the bottom of a dam, due to domestic wastewater, industrial wastewater, fallen leaves and the like, without causing secondary pollution such as pollution caused by diffusion into water. PSOLUTION: An enclosure wall (shielding wall) is erected from the bottom of the water in the water within a fixed area; a tip of a hose, which is elongated to a water-bottom part from above a water surface, is made to abut on the sediment on the water-bottom part; the sediment is sucked up via the hose; and solid-liquid separation is applied to the sediment in treatment facilities above the water surface. The enclosure wall (shielding wall) can also be erected at a height up to the midpoint of the overall depth of the water from the bottom of the water in the water within the fixed area. The hose, which is to be suspended from above the water surface to the water-bottom part, can also be formed as a double hose; the sediment can also be agitated by emitting a jet of compressed air or high-pressure water from an inner hose thereof; and the agitated sediment can also be sucked up from an outer hose of the double hose (specifically, from between the outer surface of the inner hose and the inner surface of the outer hose).
