Method of processing umts calls in a packet transmission network and node for the umts network and for implementing said method

In order to accept a new call for setting up in a UMTS network node, the method consists in particular in: ;calculating for the new call an equivalent passband as a function of: ;the quality of service requested for the new call; and ;the quality of service attributes of the UMTS medium corresponding to the call; ;then comparing the sum of the equivalent passband for the new call plus the equivalent passbands of all of the calls already set up in the UMTS network node with a predetermined maximum value; and ;accepting the new call with guaranteed requested quality of service only if the sum is less than or equal to said predetermined maximum value.
