Method of processing UMTS calls in a packet transmission network and node for the UMTS network and for implementing said method

In order to accept a new call for setting up in a UMTS network node, the method consists in particular in:calculating for the new call an equivalent passband as a function of: the quality of service requested for the new call; andthe quality of service attributes of the UMTS medium corresponding to the call;then comparing the sum of the equivalent passband for the new call plus the equivalent passbands of all of the calls already set up in the UMTS network node with a predetermined maximum value; andaccepting the new call with guaranteed requested quality of service only if the sum is less than or equal to said predetermined maximum value.
