A method, system, GUI, API, computer readable media, and data structures are provided to simplify the management of a complex enterprise component system. Computer executable methodology includes correlating and determining root causes of enterprise events. Enterprise component management is therefore simplified by automatically distinguishing symptomatic events from cause-of-origin events, which facilitates taking appropriate maintenance actions in a timely manner. The system provides a computer based system for receiving and correlating events and then diagnosing a source cause event from a time correlated set of such received, correlated events. The system includes computer components for the reception, storage and correlation of events and a source cause determiner for the analysis of such events and relevant correlation rules.
