The present invention relates to a method for producing a cooling plate (50, 80) with integral coolant ducts (52, 84) for iron or steel-making furnace. A preform of the cooling plate (50, 80) is continuously cast by means of a continuous casting mold (10), rod-shaped inserts (28) in the casting duct (20) of the continuous casting mold (10) producing in this preform ducts (52, 84) which extend in the continuous casting direction and form the corresponding coolant ducts (52, 84) in the finished cooling plate.
