METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF SOMATIC EMBRYOS FROM PLANT TISSUE SUSPENSION CULTURE MEDIUM AND PREPARATION OF PLANTS FROM SAID EMBRYOS

A method of obtaning somatic embryos in suspension culture, which method comprises: (i) culturing non-Daucus non-callus explant material in contact with a liquid plant tissue culture medium comprising an effective amount of an auxin or mixture of auxins sufficient to promote the induction of pro-embryogenic mass (PEM) formation; (ii) multiplying the number of PEMs obtained in (i) by cultivation of said PEMs in contact with a suitable auxin-containing liquid medium; (iii) collecting PEMs obtained in (ii) and placing them in contact with a substantially auxin-free liquid medium to induce somatic embryo formation; and (iv) collecting somatic embryos resulting from the induced embryos of step (iii), wherein said somatic embryos have the same ploidy level as the non-callus explant material in suspension culture.
