A method for producing a liquid dispersion containing submicron metal particles, the method comprising: a) providing a liquid bath in a vessel; b) mixing a metal- carbonyl gas with an inert carrier gas to form a metal- carbonyl gas mixture; c) introducing the metal-carbonyl gas mixture into the liquid bath; d) bubbling the metal- carbonyl gas mixture through the liquid bath; d) bubbling the metal-carbonyl gas mixture through the liquid bath; e) causing at least a portion of the metal carbonyl gas to decompose within the liquid bath to form metal particles of predetermined size and remain therein; and f) forming the liquid dispersion of metal particles in the liquid bath with a predetermined viscosity.
