Excitatory amino acid receptor antagonists used in neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases

Excitatory amino acid receptor antagonists of formula (I) and formula (Ia), their pharmaceutically acceptable salts as well as methods for using the pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and also processes for making compounds of formula (I) and formula (Ia) are disclosed. These compounds of formula (I) and formula (Ia) are useful for the treatment of neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, especially migraine.
