The invention relates to a process for the recovery and the selective separation of platinum, palladium and rhodium from spent motor vehicle catalysts, by solubilization, in two steps. In the second step, the platinum and the palladium are solubilized by treating them with HCl having a concentration of 4.5...7M and H2O2 having a concentration of 30%.
