The invention relates to a process for the recovery of platinum-group metals from motor vehicle catalysts. According to the invention, the process consists in extracting platinum-group metals by the solubilization of ground catalysts in a solution of NaCl 3...5M and HCl 1...2.5M, at a temperature of 75...100°C, for 60 min, in an oxidizing medium, followed by the reductive precipitation of platinum-group metals from the chloride solution, with a NaBHsolution, in excess, at a temperature of 30°C, for 30 min, wherefrom a concentrate containing approximately 42.9% Pt, 28%Pd, 2.90% Rh and 0.0045% Ir is obtained.
