The proposed method for weighing movable coupled railway half-cars when loading the half-cars with free-flowing material implies the use of two separate weighers. The length of the load-bearing platform of the first weigher is less that the distance between the back axis of a half-car to be loaded and the front axis of the following half-car. The first weigher is arranged so that, when the half-car to be loaded enters the load-bearing platform of the second weigher by its two axis, the wheels of the back axis of the following half-car are leaving the load-bearing platform of the first weigher. The outlet opening of the accumulating hopper with free-flowing material is arranged over the area where the wheels of the first axis of the half-car to be loaded enter the load-bearing platform of the second weigher. The identification of a locomotive and determination of the weight of empty half-cars is accomplished when the train is moving through the first weigher. When the wheels of the first axis of the half-car enter the load-bearing platform of the second weigher, the hopper damper is opened, and the half-car is loaded. When the wheels of the second axis of the half-car enter the load-bearing platform of the second weigher, the hopper damper is closed, and the half-car is weighed. Data for the weight of the half-car is transferred to a microprocessor computing unit. The weight of each of the other half-cars in moving train is determined according to the same procedure. When the train passes over the weigher, the half-car weighing resulting data are summed in order to determine the total weight of the free-flowing material in the train half-cars.
