A method for smelting silicomanganese in the blast-furnace involves loading coke, quartzite and manganese-containing charge. As manganese-containing charge the carbon ferromanganese is used partially or completely, and smelting is performed with slags having alkalinity of CaO:SiO2 =(1.0...1.2).
