The monitoring circuit (20) coupled to the device (1) being protected against theft is associated with a number of pre-selected alarm levels. A first alarm level activated by a sensor (2, 3) associated with the device results in the circuit generating acoustic and/or visual signals, e.g. warning that theft of the device will result in vital parts and/or circuits being destroyed within a given time period. A second alarm level can be activated during or after this time period, resulting in the circuit generating further acoustic and/or visual signals, warning again of the risk of the these parts and/or circuits being destroyed. A third alarm level in the form of an output signal that destroys these parts/or circuits is activated by a means during or after a given time period associated with the second alarm level. The device is provided with a movement sensors (2) and/or power voltage drop sensor (3) connected or coupled to a monitoring circuit designed to transmit an output signal to a conductor when one of the sensors is activated. The conductor is connected to vital parts and/or circuits in the device, causing them to be destroyed when the output signal is received.
