The capsule opener comprises an elongated tool shaft (1) which at a first end area has an aperture (6,7) which in the shaft longitudinal direction is limited by two opposing edge areas (4,5). These edge areas support against the upper side of, and grip under a cover edge of a crown capsule for its release from a bottle neck mouth. A permanent magnet (3) is fitted on the shaft for the retention of a released capsule.
