Fractured bone fixing plate, for osteosynthesis, has slit barrel heads for gripping screws and uses barrels as drill guides

Plate (4) is laid on the bone with barrels screwed in reverse i.e. projecting away from the bone. Screw holes are drilled using the barrels as guides. The plate is removed and the holes reamed as necessary. Screws (6) are screwed into the holes, the plate positioned and the barrels screwed into the plate. The slit heads of the barrels clamp onto the screws for a firm grip.
