Velocimetry equipment image correlation with reduced errors associated with velocity gradients and window edges question.; The present invention is a modification of the usual equipment particle image velocimetry (PIV Particle Image Velocimetry or). This modification consists in the combined use of symmetrical direct correlation and compensation pattern particle deformation, avoiding the instability that can develop in the association. The figure shows an example of such instability. The advantages of this speedometer PIV are reducing errors associated with the edges of the query window and the presence of gradients in the displacement field. The application possibilities of this speedometer covers all areas in which the PIV usually used (such as the aeronautical, naval, environment, civil and mechanical engineering, chemical, etc.)
