The use of a composition comprising a protein content of between 30% and 70%, on a dry matter basis, a fat content of between 10% and 40%, on a dry matter basis, and a carbohydrate content of not more than 12% on a dry matter basis, said use is for the preparation of a nutritionally balanced diet for protecting an obligate carnivore from, or for treating an obligate carnivore having a disease of abnormal metabolism carbohydrate.
