A method for manufacturing an electrochemical cell, comprising the steps of: providing a negative electrode material and a positive electrode material wherein said electrode materials are in operative electrical association with one another; provide a negative current collector and a positive current collector; providing contact conductors as positive and negative terminals for each of said negative and positive electrode materials wherein said contact conductors extend outward from an electrochemical cell pack within which said electrode materials are housed: apply to said tabs of contact a coating of a hermetic sealing adhesive compound to uniformly cover said tabs therewith and inserting said electrochemical cell pack so that it fits for sealing within a final closing sealing element so that said contact conductors stand out through it.
