The production of highly-concentrated aqueous polymer dispersions comprises introduction into a nuclear reactor of e.g. two aqueous monomer emulsions of differing mean droplet size. After heating to polymerisation point, the reactor then receives an aqueous monomer phase, a surfactant and an initiator, yielding a large mean droplet size emulsion.
