A method for controlling house dust mites and mites beds in an article in which they proliferate in use of the article, by manufacturing the article using fibers to which has previously been added a chemical compound having antifungal activity, wherein the compound chemical has antifungal activity against fungi of the Aspergillus glaucus and / or A. restrictus groups, the fibers are manmade polymeric fibers and the chemical compound is incorporated within the fibers during the course of their manufacture by inclusion in the spinning dope of fibers, to provide a long-lasting antifungal effect which endures through laundering and which controls that house dust mites mode and mites beds during use of the article.
