A purified and isolated cryIII-type genewas obtained from a novel B.t. strain. The genehas a nucleotide bass sequence coding for the aminoacid sequence illustrated in Figure 1. The74.4 kDa protein produced by this gene is anirregularly shaped crystal that is toxic tocoleopteran insects, including Colorado potatobeetle and insects of the genus Diabrotica.
