PROCESS FOR THE TREATMENT OF SOLID RESIDUES CONTAINING METALS, IN PARTICULAR RESIDUES FROM THE CLEANING OF HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE INCINERATION SMOKE

A process is provided for reducing metals in theresidue from household garbage incineration. The processcomprises: mixing the solid residues with a solid reducingagent; treating the mixture in a furnace at a temperatureabove 1000° C to obtain a vitrified product rendered poor inmetals and an emission of gas enriched in metallic elementsin a vapour phase; air quenching the gases rich in metals;filtering the products resulting from the air quenching toobtain secondary ashes rich in metallic salts. At the endof the filtering operation, the resultant smoke is washedfor discharging it to the atmosphere; and the secondaryashes rich in metallic salts are treated to produce aproduct rich in valorizable metals.
