A biochemical information processing apparatuscomprises storage means storing biochemicalinformation, input means for accepting input of data,reaction scheme detection means for detecting achemical reaction scheme involving a compound, based onthe data, and display means for indicating a reactionscheme diagram of the chemical reaction scheme. Thestorage means comprises a compound information file, anenzyme information file, and a relation informationfile, and the relation information file stores a listshowing the relation among compound numbers ofcompounds as a key, enzyme numbers of enzymes witheither pertinent compound being a substrate, and enzymenumbers of enzymes with either pertinent compound beinga product. The reaction scheme detection meanscomprises a first process portion for preparingcanonical data of the compound from the data andsearching the compound information file based thereonto read out a compound number, a second process portionfor reading an enzyme number of an enzyme with thecompound being a substrate or a product out of therelation information file, based on the compoundnumber, a third process portion for reading a compoundnumber of another compound constituting a reactionsystem with the enzyme and additional information ofthe enzyme, and a fourth process portion for indicatinga reaction scheme diagram of the compound on thedisplay means from the compound number and the enzymenumber.
