The present invention provides ophthalmic methods andapparatus for low-level light therapy of various eye diseasesconnected with accommodative dysfunctions and functionaldisorders of parts of the visual system from and including theretina to the brain. One of the treatment methods of thepresent invention provides a healing influence with a laserspeckle pattern or regular interference pattern applied to thevisual system resulting in, for example, visual acuityenhancement in the case of functional amblyopia. Anothertreatment method provides both a functional influence by theapplication of a laser speckle pattern onto the visual systemand the transscleral biostimulation of eye tissues by means ofinfrared irradiation of one or more areas of the eye sclera.The infrared biostimulation of eye tissues results in theimprovement of eye muscle capability and enhances eye bloodcirculation. The present invention provides further anophthalmic therapy system and ophthalmic binocular units for usewith the above therapy method.40
