Apparatus and method for supporting mobility between subnetworks of mobile node in wireless LAN

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for supporting mobility of an MS(Mobile Station) between sub-networks in a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) are provided to quickly change a data routing path to a new AP(access point) by grasping the mobility of the MS in a MAC(Medium Access Control) layer. CONSTITUTION: If an MS moves in a service area of the fourth AP while performing communication, the MS transmits a re-association request message to the fourth AP. The fourth AP transmits a hand-off request message, for requesting the hand-off of the MS, to the second MAS(Mobile Access Server)(407). When information of the MS does not exist, the second MAS broadcasts a home MAS find message, for acquiring an IP(Internet Protocol) address of the MS, to the first MAS(409). The first MAS receives the home MAS find message, and transmits a home MAS find response message, including a MAC address and an IP address of the first MAS and the IP address of the MS, to the second MAS(411). For updating information for supporting mobility, the second MAS requests the first MAS to update information for supporting mobility(413). The first MAS answers to the update request(415). The second MAS transmits a response message with respect to the hand-off request message to the fourth AP, and completes the hand-off(417).
