There is according to the invention provided protein-based vaccines comprising specific outer membrane proteins (PorB2 and PorA) to combat the epidemics which involve infection by bacterial strains which express a particular combination of PorB2 outer membrane protein and PorA outer membrane protein. Such strains may include, but are not limited to, bacteria of any one of serogroups W-135, C, Y and X. The present invention provides a vaccine comprising one or more outer membrane protein of type PorB2 and one or more outer membrane protein of type PorA.
