The invention relates to a method for controlling or regulating the build-up of brake pressure when full braking at a high friction coefficient. Said method is provided for an independent braking system having anti-lock control. The rotational behaviour of the individual vehicle wheels and the momentary friction coefficient are determined and are evaluated for controlling or regulating the brake pressure. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a full braking or emergency braking situation is identified, brake pressure is built up quickly at the beginning of the braking process, the wheel slip and the wheel deceleration or the filtered wheel deceleration are compared with pre-determined limiting values, and the gradient of the brake pressure build-up is reduced or there is a transition to a reduced brake pressure build-up gradient just before the locking pressure level is reached, i.e. when the pre-determined limiting values for the wheel slip and the wheel deceleration are exceeded. Said measures enable the normal force of the wheel, which is increased by the dynamic axle-load transfer, to be used in a more effective manner.
