Support device with interchangeable wear members for a rotating workpiece like a rotary drum furnace

A support for a rotating component (10) with a given axis of rotation (14) includes a fixed body (16) with a concave support face (18) in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. An interchangeable support unit (30) can be received between the concave support face and the component to be supported. In section, this unit has the shape of a sector of a circular ring defined by two radii with an angle of 180 degrees between them. The support unit is fixed to the body using fixtures (50) that can be unlocked. Linking devices (56) couple the support unit to a replacement support unit (30'), which can thus be moved into place without dismounting the rotating component. This is done by rotating both support units about the axis of rotation after unlocking the fixtures.
