In order to make a pulse shaping device easy to adjust and therefore be able to use said pulse shaping device in a more flexible manner, the entire pulse shaping device is prefabricated in a compact manner as a stand-alone apparatus that has a clearly defined zero position, is provided with high-precision elements (205, 210) for holding optical elements (215) within the beam path and accommodating said optical elements (215) inside sliding tables (230), all of which are disposed on a common base plate (240), and has prepositionings for specific optical elements, e.g. optical axes of the beam path, said prepositionings being established when the base plate is produced.
