The portal milling machine has an arched portal (1) provided with an energy chain for supplying a carriage (4) displaced along the portal, e.g. via a linear motor and supporting a multi-axis machining unit (5), displaced in a perpendicular direction (z). The portal is supported on a foundation (8) at either end and has 2 curved guides (2,3), the inner guide used for displacement of the carriage of the machining unit and the outer guide used for a carriage (9) supporting a bearing for the slider (12) facilitating the perpendicular movement of the machining unit.
