REGULATOR OF INTERSTITIAL ANGIOTENSIN II HYPERPRODUCTION AND PREVENTIVE OR REMEDY FOR THE ONSET OF ARTERIOSCLEROSIS, HEART AND BRAIN VASCULAR DISEASES AND/OR DIABETIC COMPLICATIONS

It is intended to provide a novel means of regulating the activation of the interstitial renin-angiotensin system and a means of preventing or treating the onset of arteriosclerosis, heart and brain vascular diseases and/or diabetic complications. The above objects are achieved by using a drug containing a substance which has a function of inhibiting the non-enzymatic prorenin activation in the prorenin profragment region. More specifically, use of a drug which contains a peptide having a partial sequence selected from the amino acid sequence in the profragment region of prorenin or a peptide equivalent thereto makes it possible to regulate the interstitial angiotensin II hyperproduction and, moreover, prevent or treat the onset of arteriosclerosis, heart and brain vascular diseases and/or diabetic complications caused by interstitial angiotensin II hyperproduction or not mediated by the interstitial renin-angiotensin system.
