The cooling process involves the use of a pre-swirler (20) fitted to the blades on the head side, so that coolant can be guided from one blade to the next without the direction of flow of the coolant having to be reversed. The coolant is also accelerated. The accelerated coolant goes to the cooling channels from one blade to the next in the direction of flow.
