A method of reading a music comprising the step of recognizing all signs of a music including musical notes, the step of estimating the drum notation in a drum part of the music based on the data obtained in the above step, the step of assigning a practical sounding instrument to the sign of the recognized drum part according to the drum notation estimated in the above step, and the step of converting the data into the form of music data that can be played and/or displayed. This makes it possible to recognize the notation of the drum music described by various notations and to convert the recognized data into a form that can be played with a minimum amount of operation.
