The invention relates to a method for detecting wind speeds using a Doppler-Lidar system (10). According to said method, a laser beam produced by a laser (11) and having a pre-determined frequency is sent from an emission device (12) to a spatial region, and the light back-scattered from the spatial region is received by a receiving telescope (13). In order to determine a Doppler displacement, an interferogram is produced by means of an interferometer (16), the intensity distribution of said interferogram being directly measured by means of a photodetector (17). The measured intensity distribution is compared with at least one reference model which has previously been determined for defined parameters and stored in a memory (18a), and the Doppler displacement is determined as a value for the wind speed on the basis of said comparison. Said Doppler-Lidar system (10) comprises an evaluation unit (18a, 18b) which is used to carry out the method and is provided with a comparison unit (18b) for comparing reference models with the measured interferogram.
