The present invention generally relates to an expert system for clinical outcome prediction. In particular, the invention relates to a generic data-mining system for predicting the development of a disease and/or for identifying high-risk patients.;A method for predicting the development of a disease and/or identifying high-risk patients, and a system for performing the method, is provided, including the steps of providing molecular genetic data and/or clinical data, pre-processing the data, selecting a predetermined number of variables out of the provided data according to their combined/mutual information content, automatically generating prediction data by means of machine learning.
