The method is for operating a turbine steam generator with a horizontal hot gas flow duct (6) having steam tubes extending across it (12). It involves feeding the flow medium such as water (W) through the generator through-flow heating surface (8) so that in the falling steam tube section (20) of each tube, a flow speed is above a preset level. The water can be partially prevaporised before passage into the steam tubes.
