CASING FOR AN INFLATABLE BODY OF A DEVICE FOR SMOOTHING ITEMS OF CLOTHING AND DEVICE EQUIPPED THEREWITH FOR SMOOTHING ITEMS OF CLOTHING

Methods for smoothing items of clothing by pulling those items of clothing taut from within by way of an inflatable body (1) that is linked with a base (2) that comprises a fan (6) for inflating the inflatable body (1) are known. In order to partially or completely prevent the inflatable body (1) from being worn down, a casing (8) is provided for the inflatable body (1), which is air-permeable across at least a part of its surface. Said casing (8) can be produced at substantially lower costs than the inflatable body (1) so that it can be washed more often, while accepting the wear and tear thereby caused, since the casing (8) can be replaced at low costs. The casing (8) may have a different shape and/or smaller dimensions in order to adapt to the type of the item of clothing to be smoothened.
