PURPOSE: Provided is an agent containing beta-asarone as an effective component to Increase the synthesis of cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1A2 enzymes. Also, provided is a method for increasing the synthesis of cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1A2 enzymes on the level of mRNA and/or protein. CONSTITUTION: An agent for increasing the synthesis of cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1A2 enzymes is characterized by containing beta-asarone as an effective component. The synthesis of cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1A2 enzymes is increased by administering of the agent into a mammal, wherein the safrole increases the quantity of mRNA or protein of the cytochrome P450 enzyme.
