PURPOSE: A method for managing a dual link in an IMT-2000 system is provided to efficiently manage switch duplication and board duplication by detecting status information for a link fault and providing it to the other end-point in case that a link fault occurs between switches or between a switch and an end-point. CONSTITUTION: A receive task monitors a message queue(ST11) and checks whether an OAM(Operation, Administration and Management) cell is received to the message queue(ST12). If an OAM cell is received, the receive task reads the received OAM cell(ST13). Then the receive task analyzes a VPI(Virtual Path Identifier)/VCI(Virtual Channel Identifier) connection from the received OAM cell(ST14). As a result of analysis, the receive task confirms whether the received OAM cell is a dual cell from a dual task(ST15). In case that the received OAM cell is the dual cell, the receive task drives a timer(ST16) and sets the status flag of an OS connection table as an abnormal state(ST18). Then the receive task makes a timer task generate an event and registers arrival time(ST19). After registering arrival time, the receive task checks the function type of the received OAM cell(ST20,ST21). In case that it is judged that an AIS(Alarm Indication Signal) OAM cell has been received, the receive task changes it into an RDI(Remote Defect Identification) type(ST22) and transmits the OAM cell to the other end-point(ST23).
