The present invention relates to an effective desulfurization process of catalytically cracked gasoline which reduces olefin content to minimize octane drop. The catalytically cracked gasoline is separated into a plurality of fractions containing one or both of fractions containing a large amount of sulfur compounds which are difficult to desulfurize and fractions containing a large amount of sulfur compounds which are susceptible to desulfurization. One or both of the fractions are hydrodesulfurized. The obtained fraction is mixed with the remaining fraction.
