Remedy For Obesity Therapy Contained With Green Tea Extractive

PURPOSE: An agent for treating obesity containing polyphenol as a main component obtained by extracting leaves of Camellia sinensis is provided. Because the polyphenol has an effect on the inhibition of degradation of starch into disaccharides and intestinal absorption of sugar, the agent suppresses human weight gain. CONSTITUTION: This anti-obesity agent is prepared by adding 5 to 20 parts by weight of distilled water to 1 part by weight of Camellia sinensis leaves powder, heating for 15min to 1hr, cooling to 4deg.C and filtering. The precipitate is then dried, ground and extracted in an organic solvent, followed by removing organic extracts to give an anti-obesity agent. In a Sprague-Dawley rat test, the extract shows excellent effects on weight loss and reduction of a neutral lipid without any toxicity.
