PURPOSE: A method for preparing anatase-type TiO2 ultrafine powder is provided, to obtain a nano-sized crystalline TiO2 powder with a narrow distribution of particle size by the improved washing process using TiCl4 and acetone. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of inserting TiCl4 into a reactor charged with inert gas at room temperature, and adding 0.01-90% inorganic acid solution of the stoichiometrical ratio or more to the reactor to prepare a Ti4+ aqueous solution mixed with an inorganic acid; adding acetone to the solution at room temperature to prepare a 0.1-1.4 M Ti4+ aqueous solution; leaving the solution at a temperature of 15-200 deg.C to obtain slurry containing TiO2 particles; filtering the slurry, washing it with alkali halide solution or an acidic solution and filtering it; adding an alkali aqueous solution to the slurry filtrate to adjust the pH to be 2-9; and washing the solution with distilled water and alcohols, filtering and drying the washed one.
