PURPOSE: A PIP processing device based on 1-scaler of an image display system is provided to use BS signals as an auxiliary PIP screen, and simultaneously supply external input signals as image source for both main and auxiliary screens. CONSTITUTION: A PIP processing device based on 1-scaler of an image display system includes a multi-component processor(21) for processing BS input and external input image signals. A scaler(22) carries out the PIP processing by using analog RGB signals output from a multi-component processor and analog PC input signals for a main screen while using external input signals or BS signals for an auxiliary screen. A synchronizing signal generator(23) generates synchronizing signals from horizontal and vertical signals output from the multi-component processor to output to the scaler. A color decoder(24) decodes the external input image signals. The deinterlacer(25) deinterlaces an output from the color decoder to output to an auxiliary screen input terminal of the scaler. A DAC(26) converts the digital YUV signals output from the deinterlacer to analog YUV signals to output to the multi-component processor. An ADC(27) converts the analog BS signals to digital YUV signals to process the BS input signals for an auxiliary PIP screen of the scaler. A microcomputer(28) controls output ports of the deinterlacer and the ADC in response to the selection of a main or auxiliary screen, controls pixel clock supply according to the signal type, and controls respective circuit elements via IIC buses.
