pre-S PROTEIN OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS(HBV) AS ADJUVANT AND COMPONENT OF HBV VACCINE

PURPOSE: pre-S protein of hepatitis B virus(HBV) as an adjuvant as well as a component of HBV vaccine is provided, thereby cost effectively producing the pre-S protein of HBV which increases immunogenicity of vaccine antigen. CONSTITUTION: A modified pre-S protein of hepatitis B virus which is either non-glycosylated or partially glycosylated is provided. The modified pre-S protein of HBV is a mutant pre-S protein, wherein one or both asparagines of a wild-type pre-S protein at amino acid position 15 to 123 are substituted by any one selected from alanine, arginine, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine and valine; the wild-type pre-S protein is derived from an HBV selected from the group consisting of adr, ayw, adw, adw2, and adyw subtypes; the modified pre-S protein of HBV is selected from the group consisting of Pre-S-15m (SEQ ID NO:9), Pre-S-123m (SEQ ID NO:10), and Pre-S-dm (SEQ ID NO:11); and the modified pre-S protein is a pre-S protein generated by treating a wild-type pre-S protein or a recombinant pre-S protein with glycosidase.
